Today I experimented with thicker strokes... ehh.... It had it's ups and downs. I think broader strokes can work for some things, but sometimes I need my modeling strokes to define form... I focused more on a new technique and a lot of these I feel lost some form as a consequence.

Today I also decided I am going to start observe each gesture and make a note of the most notable things I struggled with and that I need to work on with the next gesture.

Messy gesture paint

I felt a bit off of my game today. I had a rough time really honing in on the forms. Though I do feel I am getting a bit better. ^^

More paintz

My Gesture paintings for the day! All done in 3-5 minutes! My issues seem to be running out of space... Also... I am still growing used to the medium.

Being able to switch between two colors really is nice and adds tons of options. I love it.

Painter or Draftsman?

As artist we are either all painters, or Draftsman. Painters see figures and objects in terms of form, as opposed to Draftsman who see things in lines.

I learned this fact from an professional. An art Director actually. His name is James Lingo.

I took what he said into consideration and discovered that I am definitely more of a painter than a draftsman. My mind wants to wrap around forms as a whole rather than define them with lines...

This simple gesture was done in roughly 1 minute and 30 seconds... maybe 2. And it honestly felt SO much better and came much more naturally. I am definitely going to really push this style of gesturing. I can't wait to see the progress I make!
